Azmat joined the Collective in 2001, and has contributed to numerous projects since he joined, including those on migration, poverty and bonded labour. Prior to joining the Collective, he worked with Haris Gazdar on two projects: "Qualitative Survey of Poverty in Rural Pakistan" and "Land Tenure Rural Livelihood And Institutional Innovation".
From 1999 to 2000, Azmat worked with the Population Council, Islamabad as a Field Researcher on various quantitative and qualitative studies. He was a Research Assistant at the Sustainable Development Policy Institute, Islamabad from 2000 to 2001.
