The Collective for Social Science Research is a co-curator of the Women of the World (WOW) festival, Karachi with Southbank Centre, British Council, Department of Visual Studies at Karachi University, Entrepreneurship and Community Development Institute (ECDI), Hack Hackers, Pakistan Institute of Labour Education and Research (PILER), Salt Arts, and ToffeeTV. The Women of the World (WOW) festival was launched in 2011 on the centenary of International Women's Day and is now a global movement of festivals for everyone that celebrates women and girls and looks at the obstacles that prevent them from achieving their full potential. WOW Karachi, held on May 1st 2016 was the first full WOW festival in South Asia. To date, WOW has reached over one million people worldwide and this number is growing year on year. By 2018, the Southbank Centre aims to present WOW in all 53 Commonwealth countries. The annual WOW Karachi celebrates women and girls locally and globally and aims to foster a sense of community between women and men. The event is made up of various talks, debates, performances, workshops and networking activities and invites people from all walks of life. The Collective for Social Science Research is responsible for curating WOW Talks - a series of discussions that brings together academics, politicians, practitioners and citizens to collectively think about key questions facing young girls and women in Pakistan today.
