The Asia Foundation (TAF) has engaged the Collective for DIFID-CHASE Programme Partnership Arrangement to conduct an academic research study over State-Society Relations in post-conflict district Swat in KPK province and pre-conflict district Rahim Yar Khan in Punjab province of Pakistan. The research study is being conducted to provide a descriptive analysis of the state society relations from the perspectives of collective action forged by different non-state groups across political, ethnic, religious, sectarian and occupational lines- and interaction of these groups with different elements of the state being probed in both sites. The aim of this research study is to explore the balance of power across societal group's vis-a-vis key elements of the state.
